Hate is Not Welcome Here

pitbull-puppies31

Yesterday I put up a post about our boy Bosco and his issues with anxiety.  Unfortunately, that post was shared so many times that the hacks from Dogsbite got a hold of it.  Their comments on my blog were poisonous and uncalled for.

I hate the thought that I can’t write openly and honestly about working with challenging dogs without worrying that I am handing these individuals ammunition for their anti-pit campaign.

Ordinarily I never, ever remove comments.  I welcome discussion.  But these comments were only trying to shame me and all other pit bull terrier like dogs devotees.

I want to apologize to everyone who read those remarks.  And I want to apologize for removing them.  I don’t like to operate that way.  I am always willing to listen and debate points with thoughtful people.  I am NOT willing to entertain comments about killing my dogs.

These are the same people who show up and post disgusting comments on every single pit bull story. One of them runs across an article, and then sends the link out to all of their cronies.  And they post horrific information.  They even posted on the story Arin Greenwood wrote about Ray’s death.

Their intention is never to educate.  Their intention is never to debate.  Their intention is to outlaw and kill every single pit bull like dog in the country.  And they will stoop to incredible lows to attain their goals.  They will target individuals.  They will post contact information.  They will call employers.  They will stop at nothing to smear the names and reputations of people who love this type of dog.

Ask Bronwyn Dickey, the author of “Pit Bull: The Battle Over an American Icon”….they actually posted photos of her house and her address, asking people to terrorize her.   They sent a representative to one of her readings who had to be escorted out of the building after he was disruptive and threatening.

These are the same people who advocate for adopting pit bull terrier like dogs and then taking them to a vet to be put down.  They discuss ways to kill dogs in their neighborhood.  They threaten to shoot any pit they see in public. They are evil.  They are fanatics.

I have news for them.  I don’t care what they think.  I am not going to stop writing about dogs.  I am not going to act like all dogs are perfect.  I am going to tell it like it is.  I am going to share whatever knowledge I have to help other people and their dogs.  But I am not going to listen to their poison when they start taking about my family members.   If your only purpose is to cause fear and hate, you aren’t welcome on my page.

Bottom line…I am a responsible caretaker of our companions.  My husband is an uber-responsible caregiver.  What dogs we choose to live with is no one’s business but our own.   How far we decide to go to help our dogs is no one’s business but our own.  Unless you are a trained behaviorist, a veterinarian or a certified trainer, you have no right telling us how to work with our dogs. If you are a DBO hater, your opinion is neither solicited nor welcome.

So, much like landowners will “post” their property against trespass or hunting, I am “posting” on this blog.  Do not bring your evil here.  It will be removed.

  1. Removing those hateful posts from your personal blog is the right thing to do. You have no obligation to provide them a platform to denigrate the dogs you love.

  3. I commend you for removing any negative comments about this wonderful breed. People either don’t know what they’re talking about or are trying to spread lies. We must stick together to get the truth out about the best breed there is, who make the most loving family dogs.

  4. I am so very sorry that your post attracted such a negative hateful response from this group. It makes me so sad to even think that people like this exist on this earth! But they do. I love these dogs and hate how they are persecuted by this hateful and uneducated group of people. They are the evil that exists making this world the kind of place it has become. They will not win this fight believe me, because of people like you and I and the rest of those that will not ever stop defending them.

  5. As far as I’m concerned I consider these hateful, ignorant idiots and their likes a terrorist group. NO one has the right to tell me whom I can love, who can be my family. You don’t know the dog’s circumstances, you don’t care for the dog in any way (emotionally/financially) so f##k the hell off !!!
Don’t you dare to speak against my pibble kids! Because I’m just like a pit bull if you will- unconditionally loving, loyal and FIERCELY PROTECTIVE!!!
I salute you for being unapologetic. I salute you for loving your furry kids and going above and beyond to accommodate their physical and emotional needs. We love those with special needs even more. Let’s not forget every dog is born so pure and innocent. It is soulless humans who burden them with a horrific baggage.
The dogs are the innocent victims here!

  7. I agree with you. That kind of thing is wrong in the first place, unnecessary in the second and unwarrented in the third. They are far more vicious than any pittie out there. I can only hope that the venom, hatred and cruelty come back to roost in thousand times the measure, they asked for it. It would be truly interesting if they could live the hell and horror that Ray, Bosco, and uncounted other pit bull type dogs have lived just to see how well they “recovered”. I don’t believe that their approach is sane, of course, they would never agree. The temptation is to retaliate in kind to those hateful people, it certainly would be interest to see their reaction to it. Anyway, this is YOUR blog, YOUR space, YOUR call what is allowed in the comments. Never apologize for picking up and properly disposing of unwanted excrement.

  8. I’m so so very sorry that horrible hateful people had to try & invade your space. Also, I’m so uneducated on all the hateful groups because, quite honestly, with all the other animal abuse horrors I read about, I try not to go looking for more. I want to say that you’re wonderful people to take such care with these poor dogs and should never ever allow such hateful people to even get 1 tiny moment of thought, you’re much too good for that. I’m guessing you already know that, but sometimes it helps to be reminded. I can only hope that my situation will improve soon & I can someday do more than just sign and share petitions against the ugly evil animal abusers. In the meantime, it’s comforting knowing there are angels like you out there doing the work that so many of us just wish we could do.

  10. I won 2 beautiful pit bulls that were rescued. I never owned a dog they are wonderful. I don’t defend them I will educate about them to educated people. I think this groups should turn their attention to saving the children of this country from drugs use their following in a more positive way. Posting negative comments on a Pitbull lovers sight is not doing one positive thing but stirring the pot. Love what you write love what you are doing. You have a right to delete any comment you want that you don’t feel fit in your mission.

  11. Thank you for your thoughtful reply though i really feel you do not need to defend your choices or your care for your dogs. Anyone who owns and loves pitties has come across this bizzare group and knows that they are ridiculous and uneducated to say the least. Many dogs can have anxiety or any other issues and by talking and sharing you help spread information and encourage learning. Keep on with all the good work!!

    1. Engaging with them is exactly what they want. It gives them a legitimate platform from which to preach their hate. Removing their comments stifles them in the most effective way. As long as they preach to hate to their choir, and our dogs continue to behave contrary to their beliefs, the truth will out.

  18. You do so much educating people with your writing. I always read your blogs with great interest & feel I learn something. I don’t own a dog, but I am a volunteer at the local shelter & have fostered 3 amazing pits. Keep writing for the majority. The internet has unfortunately provided an easy way for the hate mongers to spew their crap…usually hiding behind some icon or moniker to avoid being identified. No one should be turning everything into political negativity. If people can’t express themselves in a civilized manner, you should have every right to delete the posts. Keep writing — most of us want to hear.

  20. Good for you. I was Bosco’s “harborer” during that Fulton county shitstorm in December, and never actually said thank you for giving him an incredible life. It breaks my heart to hear about the issues he’s having but I’m overjoyed to see your efforts to help him. I don’t understand why people are so horrible about anything and everything they can crap on. Some people just want to watch the world burn. Some fan the flames, but the elite few can extinguish the hate fire and persevere. I’m rooting for you and that goober. I love getting to read up on his updates and adventures. Thank you for everything you do!

I’m sorry these people feel it’s necessary to come to your blogs, your writing and spew their hate, lies and misconceptions. They will never be willing to open their minds. But one thing I have always wondered…and have asked of many of them, is how many pit bull type dogs have they come across, been in the company of and yes maybe even liked, not knowing they weren’t ‘just a lab mix’. Keep bringing your blogs!!! 💖

    1. DBO and their vile hate were in action LONG before Trump came on the scene. What does Trump being president have to do with the haters at DBO? One of the things being an advocate for pit bulls does is teach not to stereotype — just like dogs, people are individuals. The implication that Trump supporters hate pit bulls is FALSE.

    2. Please don’t make this about politics – I know of many MANY Pitbull rescuers who voted for him. Your comment just isn’t fair or warranted – what you just did is actually the same thing as they the article is about … bringing negativity/hate into the topic where it doesn’t belong, based on your own judgements.
